Snow White’s Icy Ordeal: Rescued Puppy Transforms from Tragedy to Triumph with Stray Paws

Published on

A small puppy had been trapped in the snow for two days before help finally arrived. Rescuers from Stray Paws acted just in time to prevent the dog from being completely covered by snow.

The organization received an alert about the dog, a mystery lying in the snow with unclear origins. Whether she ended up there due to illness, an injury, or an accident was uncertain, but what was clear was the urgency of the situation.

When Stray Paws arrived on the scene, they found the puppy half-buried in the freezing snow, a bleak situation given the below-freezing temperatures.

Astonishingly, the puppy survived two bone-chilling days. Despite being unable to move and surely in pain, she allowed the rescuers to gently place her into a kennel and take her to a veterinarian for immediate care.

Nicknamed Snow White for her icy ordeal, the puppy was treated upon arrival with IV infusions to raise her dangerously low body temperature. The vet estimated that she was about three years old.

At just 32.9°C, her body was well below the normal canine temperature of 38°C. Additionally, her lightweight frame offered little protection against the cold.

With no identification tags and no one coming forward to claim her, it was presumed that she had been abandoned.

Efforts to help Snow White were unrelenting. Gradually, as her temperature normalized, she regained the ability to stand and walk. Miraculously, just by the second day, she was even venturing outdoors.

However, her recovery wasn’t complete; she developed an illness, requiring further treatment over several weeks.
