A concerned woman contacted the Bro Long Stray Dogs Shelter after learning that her neighbor planned to sell their dog, an act she deemed too harsh. Wanting to help, the shelter staff quickly arrived at the address she provided.
On arrival, they found that the dog, an expectant mother already advanced in age, appeared to sense her dire fate, as she was seen clawing the ground anxiously.
The rescuers spoke to the owner and learned that the dog had originally been a gift to their children.
However, with the children busy with work, the responsibility of caring for the dog fell to the parents, who too had little time, prompting them to consider the sale.
After much discussion, the shelter team managed to convince the owner to let them take the dog. A significant change was noted in the dog’s demeanor once she was safely with the rescuers; showing signs of relief, she wagged her tail happily.
Initially, the shelter decided to keep her separate from other dogs as a precautionary measure to ensure she wasn’t carrying the contagious canine distemper virus.
Their primary hope is that she remains healthy and can safely deliver her puppies in due course.
