In San Antonio, Texas, a young puppy named Bonnie was recently rescued from unbearable heat conditions. The puppy, just five months old, was reportedly subjected to mistreatment, according to San Antonio Pets Alive.
The animal rescue organization shared that Bonnie had been found left outside, exposed to the harsh sun, with her mouth cruelly taped shut.
This led to pale and swollen lips and nose due to restricted blood circulation. As a result of the tight tape, she also suffered from scars, bleeding, and hair loss. Upon her arrival at the rescue facility, Bonnie was dirty and covered in waste.

The organization’s staff further described Bonnie’s dire situation: at just five months old and a mere six pounds, she had been heartlessly abandoned.
In this situation, she was unable to eat, drink, pant, clean herself, or even breathe properly. Beneath her fur, her frail condition was evident.
An update about Bonnie was shared on the shelter’s Facebook page on Monday. The post noted that while Bonnie’s vital signs were stable, she was still too weak to stand.
Despite her challenges, she was slowly learning new things and receiving lots of affection. Her favorite toy was reported to be a plush dinosaur.
Although Bonnie is not ready for adoption yet, the organization is hopeful about her future. They expressed confidence that once she regains her strength, Bonnie will be matched with a caring family.
However, she still has a significant recovery journey ahead before she can transition to a permanent home.
San Antonio Pets Alive encouraged potential adopters to consider other animals in need, emphasizing the impact of adoption or fostering.
As they explained, welcoming a new pet into your home not only saves that animal but also frees up space in the shelter, allowing them to help more animals in urgent situations.
The organization stressed that more space is desperately needed to continue rescuing animals in critical conditions.
