Three hikers trekking through the isolated areas of Mt. Glorious National Park in Australia experienced quite the surprise. As they moved through the serene environment, they were alerted by the sound of a splash from a nearby stream.
Expecting to glimpse native wildlife like kangaroos or perhaps a platypus, they instead found a hefty dog struggling to escape from the cold waters.

Acting quickly and with teamwork, the hikers fashioned a makeshift noose from a rope and long stick to lift the dog out.
The well-fed, spayed female dog seemed to have slipped into a deep part of the creek and had exhausted herself trying to climb out.
The dog, frightened and confused by her ordeal, initially tried to escape from the hikers, clambering along the streambed. Understanding the risks, the hikers circled around her, determined to keep her in sight amid the challenging landscape.

Considering they were over three miles away from any signs of civilization, and the night’s dropping temperatures posed a severe risk, they knew time was of the essence.
A female hiker cautiously approached the dog, hoping to gain her trust. After spending a few minutes nearby, she soothingly reached out to scratch the dog’s ear.
In response, the lonely dog, named Miss Piggy, licked her hand, indicating a growing bond.

Over time, Miss Piggy warmed to the hikers, even resting her head on the woman’s leg.
Eager to move her to safety, they crafted a harness from climbing ropes, but Miss Piggy was too tired and frightened to make the trek across steep embankments and rocky paths.
Realizing the difficulty of carrying her by hand through such challenging terrain, the hikers devised a plan to transport Miss Piggy safely.

One hiker hurried back to their van, returning after 15 minutes with a large canvas bag. The team then constructed a stretcher from ropes, towels, and a sturdy branch.
Working together, the two men carried Miss Piggy, who weighed between 85 and 90 pounds, while the woman led, clearing the trail as they went.
After 45 minutes, they finally made it back to their vehicle. The journey seemed to rejuvenate Miss Piggy, who greeted them with a wagging tail and a beaming doggy grin.

Once they were home, the hikers posted a picture of Miss Piggy online, hoping to locate her family.
It wasn’t long before they uncovered her true identity as Elly-Bob, a cherished pet who had wandered away from her yard over ten miles from where they found her.
Affectionately nicknamed Bobby by her owner, she had been missing for more than three weeks. How she ended up in the wild remains a mystery, but despite her adventure, Bobby was healthy and absolutely thrilled to be reunited with her owner.
