In a heartening development, 31 dogs have found sanctuary in the United States after being rescued from China’s brutal dog meat trade.
These canines, saved from the grim fate of slaughterhouses, arrived last Tuesday to begin their journey toward new lives in American homes.

Brandy Cherven, President of the China Rescue Dogs Organization, shared the inspiring story behind the rescue mission.
These dogs were intercepted just in time, as they were being transported to a slaughterhouse.

Knowing these dogs now have a second chance at life for Cherven and her team makes their efforts immensely rewarding.
The timing of the rescue was critical, coinciding with the notorious Yulin Dog Meat Festival, an annual event where thousands of dogs are consumed.
The rescued canines were en route to the slaughterhouse, destined to be sold and slaughtered for the festival’s gruesome purposes.

Over ten dog rescue organizations collaborated to bring these fortunate animals to safety in the United States.
Following their rescue in April, the dogs spent three weeks in Vancouver, Canada, awaiting clearance to enter the US.
Among the rescued dogs, sixteen are Golden Retrievers, while the remaining fifteen are French Bulldogs and Pugs.

While their futures remain uncertain, the rescue organizations’ priority is to secure loving and caring homes for each of these precious animals.
The successful rescue operation was made possible through the coordinated efforts of various rescue teams spanning China, Canada, and the United States.
Together, these dedicated teams worked tirelessly to prevent these dogs from falling victim to the cruel trade and slaughter prevalent in China’s dog meat industry.
