Karen Goodrowe Beck, the zoo’s General Curator, stated that the birth of these cubs is an essential step towards increasing the population of clouded leopards, which face numerous threats in their natural habitat.
The cubs will be bottle-fed and hand-reared by the zoo staff, with plans to introduce them to the public in the coming weeks. The zoo will also announce the cubs’ names in due course.
Clouded leopards are native to Southeast Asia, but their numbers have declined due to habitat loss, human encroachment, and poaching.

It’s unclear how many still live in the wild. This recent birth provides hope for the conservation of the species, highlighting the critical role zoos play in preserving endangered wildlife.
