Abandoned Puppy Hank’s Heartwarming Rescue and Healing Journey Captivates Animal Lovers

Published on

When Hank was just an 8-month-old puppy, he found himself alone in the woods, sitting quietly on an abandoned dog bed.

A good-hearted passerby noticed him and was struck by how still he remained, as if he were waiting for someone to come to his rescue.

The surrounding scene was heart-wrenching; Hank was accompanied only by his old toys and a sealed bag of dog food that he couldn’t open by himself.

The concerned stranger reached out to a local animal shelter, which promptly sent a team to rescue Hank. Given his circumstances, the shelter staff worried that Hank might react aggressively out of survival instincts.

To their surprise, he showed nothing but affection from the moment they approached him, as Rosa Fond, founder of Humans and Animals United, shared with The Dodo: “Everyone says he’s the cutest puppy.”

Following his rescue, Hank was taken to a veterinarian, where it was revealed he had been suffering from a fractured leg—an injury doctors estimated he endured for more than two weeks.

This painful condition explained why Hank hadn’t strayed from his spot in the woods.

Due to the severity of Hank’s injuries, he required significant medical intervention. The shelter sought help from Humans and Animals United, and Fond readily agreed to oversee his care.

She transported Hank to a veterinary hospital nearby, where he is currently receiving treatment. While he prepares for a life-changing surgery that lies ahead, his immediate need is to gain some weight.

In the meantime, Hank is showered with love and attention from the veterinary team.

Since his story was shared on Facebook by Humans and Animals United, Hank has attracted several adoption inquiries.

However, as Fond notes, “He’s going to have to go through a little bit of a journey before he’s totally adoptable. But he’s secure now, and he won’t be hurt again.”
