“True friendship knows no boundaries, even when separated by distance.”
This touching story exemplifies that saying through the journey of two stray dogs.
Living on the streets can be unforgiving and lonely, yet these two dogs found their certainty in each other.

They were inseparable, waiting together on a street corner day after day, hoping for someone to notice them.
The black and white duo knew one thing for sure: they could rely only on each other.
Local residents observed their daily presence, recognizing their plight and trying to help by providing food and water. However, the two never wandered far from each other’s side.
That changed when Suzette Hall appeared.

Suzette is the founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, a rescue organization born from the memory and love for her son, Logan, who passed away. After his loss, Suzette turned her life towards providing care for abandoned and neglected dogs.
Known for her unwavering dedication, she often slept in her car if necessary to ensure no dog was left alone. These two dogs posed another chance for her to make a difference.
“The neighbors told me that they would literally lay on top of each other at night to sleep,” Suzette shared with The Dodo.
She felt a guiding presence of her son urging her to help.

Upon seeing the dogs, just as described, she knew they would be safe soon. Luring them with treats, Suzette managed to capture one.
The second was more challenging as both dogs were fearful of humans, but the need to eat eventually led the first dog into her trap.
Two hours on, with the first dog secured, Suzette used its friendship to coax the second dog into safety. Their unbreakable bond was their ultimate salvation.
During transport, it became clear separating them was not an option.

“They were trying to get to each other,” Suzette said. “I could just tell they needed each other.”
Faced with their apparent connection, Suzette reunited them.
“The way their tails wagged when I let them together was incredible,” she recalled. “They couldn’t reach each other fast enough.”
Named Pasta and Pepsi, it was clear to Suzette they should stay together. Their history remained unknown—whether they had shared a home or met as strays.

What mattered was their unwavering companionship through adversity.
Both dogs needed medical attention, and they are now receiving treatment. Once recovered, they will enter foster care before finding a forever home. Suzette insists they must be adopted together to preserve their bond.
In California, which boasts high pet rescue rates, Pasta and Pepsi’s story could have ended differently without Suzette’s compassion.
Their story is a powerful reminder: cherish your pets and emulate Suzette, whose kindness makes a world of difference.
